Job Description	Qualified candidate will expect to lead a group of medicinal scientists (Ph.D.; MS) to support drug discovery research programs. The qualified individual must demonstrate the experience in designing tool compounds and experiments to support target validity and must have a track record in driving hits to high quality leads and drug candidates by the parallel optimization of efficacy, ADME and safety. He or she is able to effectively work with scientists from other functional areas within Novartis including structural biology, computer aided drug design, biology, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and etc as well as external collaborators. Minimum requirements	* Ph.D. in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry; * > 5 years of relevant experience in the major pharmaceutical industry or biotechs; * Experience in identifying hits for difficult targets by exploiting in silico methods, novel chemical libraries and structure based design; * Proven track record of innovative project contributions including peer-reviewed publications; * Ability to work independently and ability to interact with a multidisciplinary team of medicinal chemists, biologists, pharmacologists and external collaborators; * Experience with modern structure-based drug design; * Excellent oral / written communication and presentation skills; * Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment; * Ability to speak Chinese is a plus, but not essential.
