Job Description
The publication support specialist at CACTUS provides a variety of support services and resources to assist the internal writing team and external clients with their publication and scientific communication needs.
Job responsibilities include:
- Researching and recommending journals for publication of manuscripts based on the topic of research, and scope, impact factor, readership, etc. of journals
- Liaising with the journal for pre-publication inquiries and coordinating with the journal and authors until publication of the manuscript
- Maintaining a database of publications and tracking various publication metrics
- Acting as a trusted advisor for writers and clients on all issues related to publications
- Fact-checking manuscripts to ensure that the reported data are accurate and thus ensuring zero data errors in all deliverables
- Coordinating with the graphics team and authors/clients for the layout and printing of deliverables such as posters
- Performing competitive intelligence activities

- A PhD preferably in the Life Sciences. Candidates with a Masters degree but strong research orientation are also preferred.
- Familiarity with the process of publishing scientific/clinical manuscripts (eg, journal selection, adherence to journal guidelines, submission process, etc.)
- Strong command over the English language
- Impeccable written and verbal communication skills; this includes the ability to formulate queries that will elicit appropriate feedback from journals and authors
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and reference-management software (eg, RefMan and EndNote)
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Detail oriented
