Job Description

 The Life Sciences division supports drug discovery and development through systems biology, translational medicine and competitive intelligence databases. The Genetic Variant data base (GVDB)/ Integrity (Genomics and Biomarkers areas) content of Thomson Reuters serves the pharmaceutical, scientific, and clinical community, and relates genetic variants observations with human diseases and therapies and also Biomarkers / Genomic information to diseases. The main objectives of a Biomedicine analyst are: (1), to read, understand and analyze scientific bibliography (articles from scientific journals, meeting abstracts from congresses, patents, FDA documents, Clinical Guidelines, and clinical trials) (2) feed corporative databases with relevant information following analysis guidelines in an accurate and timely fashion

Essential responsibilities

• Know and understand analysis guidelines for the GVDB and Integrity
• Accept/Reject appropriate articles for analysis to be included in the corporative data bases
• Analyze selected scientific items from different sources  following analysis guidelines
• Receive and understand feedback of collaborators and take the appropriate actions to improve in the problematic areas. Ensure quality standards are observed
• Search for specific sources/tools of information that help in the analysis
• Know, understand and require new terms for controlled terminology lists
• Take responsibility for your own training development and needs
• Work as a reliable and effective member of the BIOMED  team as a whole
• Enter new genes/proteins/ Biomarkers records  into the Genomics/Biomarkers databases and complete the basic information for each entry
• Undertake additional reasonable duties as requested by your line manager

Required skills
• Masters Degree / Post Graduation in Genetics / Molecular Biology / Microbiology / Biotechnology (B.Tech are not preferred) OR at least two years of experience working with scientific literature in areas like Genomics / Genes & Proteins
• A theoretical understanding of genetics, molecular biology and biochemistry
• Good background on Genetics, Genomics, Proteomics and Molecular Pathology. Important must-know concepts include information related to:
1. Genetic information flow, RNA/DNA structure and disease related genetic variants
2. Cellular biology, DNA repair and immune response in the context of molecular pathology
3. Biotechnology and molecular biology methods and techniques
4. Basic concepts on clinical pharmacology
